Terms of service
Shards of Kael · last updated 17 October 2026 · server: shardsofkael.com
These terms cover playing Shards of Kael and using the game server at shardsofkael.com, operated by support@shardsofkael.com ("the operator"). By creating an account or playing on this server you agree to them. If you only play offline on your device, the sections about accounts and conduct do not apply, but the rest does.
1. The game
Shards of Kael is free to play. There are no purchases: gold, gems and items are earned by playing and have no money value. The game is provided as it is; it may change, have bugs, or be taken offline. The operator may change, reset or shut down the server, and will try to give notice in the game when that happens.
2. Your account
- You need to be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age for online services where you live, if higher) to create an account. If you are under 18, make sure a parent or guardian agrees.
- Keep your password and recovery key private. You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you lose both, the account cannot be recovered, because the server does not store either in a readable form.
- One person per account. Do not sell, trade or share accounts.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Account tab or at /delete-account.
3. Conduct
Other people play here. Do not:
- harass, threaten, insult or discriminate against other players, or post sexual content, slurs or hate;
- spam, advertise, scam or impersonate other players or the operator;
- choose offensive usernames or guild names (the server filters many, and moderators remove the rest);
- cheat: modify the game, use bots or automated clients beyond the game's own auto mode, exploit bugs for gain, or tamper with saves and network messages;
- share personal information about anyone, including yourself, in chat.
Use the Report button on a player to tell the moderators about a problem, and Block to stop someone from messaging, inviting or trading with you.
4. Moderation and fair play
The server automatically checks progress for plausibility. Accounts whose progress cannot be verified are reloaded from the last verified state and, if it repeats, restricted from trading, arena points and leaderboards until a moderator reviews them. Moderators may mute, restrict, suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, and may remove names, guilds or items. Serious or repeated abuse leads to a permanent ban. If you think a decision was wrong, contact the operator.
5. Content you create
Hero names, guild names, messages and reports are yours, but by sending them to the server you let the operator store, display and moderate them as described in the privacy policy. Do not post anything you do not have the right to post.
6. The game itself
The game's code, art, names and story belong to their respective owners; third-party assets are listed on the credits page with their licences. You may play the game and make save codes and screenshots for personal use. You may not redistribute the game as your own, or use its name or art to suggest an endorsement.
7. No warranty, limited liability
The game and server are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for lost progress, items, accounts, downtime, or any indirect or consequential damages. Where the law does not allow this exclusion, liability is limited to the amount you paid to play, which is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
8. Changes and contact
These terms may be updated; the date at the top changes and the game shows a notice for material changes. Questions: support@shardsofkael.com.
Template notice for operators: review these terms with a lawyer for your jurisdiction before publishing; they are a starting point, not legal advice.
